Meeting renews resolve to enforce NAP in letter and spirit

PM for enhanced coordination to achieve the targets

Prime Minister Imran Khan presided over a meeting of the Apex Committee of National Action Plan (NAP),  24NewsHD TV channel reported on Thursday.

Military bigwigs, federal ministers, national security adviser, chief ministers, AJK premier, chief secretaries, IGPs and officials concerned participated in the meeting.

It reviewed progress on NAP components and discussed the Afghanistan situation and its implications, according to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).

It was decided to fast track implementation of various measures to meet emergent security challenges including cyber security, espionage, judicial & civil reforms, capacity building of LEAs, counter violent extremism & other issues having a direct bearing on national security.

PM Imran Khan prime minister laid stress on enhanced coordination and effective measures to achieve the targets. He noted Pakistan paid a huge price in the fight against terrorism and paid tribute to the armed forces, police and intelligence agencies for their role in maintaining law and order, the statement added.

The meeting also reviewed various steps that have been put in place to ensure fool-proof security of the foreigners, especially Chinese nationals working on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and non-CPEC projects.

The meeting okayed setting up secretariats of National Action Plan and Crisis Management Information Cell in the federal capital.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah briefed the meeting about the situation in the province.
