The passing of Queen Elizabeth II has temporarily suspended a number of things. The production of fifth season of "The Crown," an acclaimed Netflix series about Queen Elizabeth II and her family, has also been put on hold as a result of the monarch's passing.
According to a series spokesman, filming was put on hold on the day of Queens’s funeral "as a gesture of respect".
The sixth season of The Crown, which will debut in November and include Imelda Staunton as the queen, Dominic West as Prince Charles (now King Charles III), and Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana, is now in production. In season four, Olivia Colman, Josh O'Connor, and Emma Corrin portrayed those parts, respectively.
In the first two seasons, the youthful princess Elizabeth who ascends to the throne and eventually assumes her role as monarch was portrayed by Claire Foy in the series, and Olivia Colman played a more experienced queen in seasons three and four. The program has increasingly become more relevant. The actors who will play Prince William and his wife Kate in the sixth season of the show were just cast by Netflix.
The series has so far taken home 22 Emmy Awards, including one for outstanding drama series and two for best drama actresses, Foy and Colman. Josh O'Connor, who appeared in 13 episodes as Prince Charles, was also honored with the best drama actor Emmy for his portrayal of the future monarch in his youth.
