Pakistan’s Chief Veterinary Officer Dr Akram shot, injured in Islamabad attack

Animal Husbandry Commissioner and Chief Veterinary Officer of Pakistan Dr Muhammad Akram was shot at and injured in an assassination attempt in Islamabad on Monday morning, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.


Dr Akram was waiting at a traffic signal at Taramarri Chowk at 9:00 am when two gunmen riding a motorcycle came close to his vehicle and shot him in the leg.


The injured chief veterinary officer was rushed to a hospital for emergency treatment.


Later, the police informed media men that Dr Akram was out of danger.


The animal husbandry commissioner told police in his preliminary statement that he did not have enmity with anyone. “I could not understand the attackers’ intentions,” he added.


The police have launched an investigation into the incident.
