Nurses boycott corona duties after colleague dies at Gujrat hospital

The nurses at Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Hospital in Gujrat stopped performing the coronavirus-related duties on Saturday as they protested against the administration after the death of one of their colleagues, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The protesters, who were chanting slogans against the hospital management, said they would continue their protest till the resignation of superintendent nurse.
The healthcare workers opted for boycott as Sadaf Jamil, who was performing her duties with the coronavirus patients, died on Friday.
The 38-year-old nurse was experiencing respiratory problems for several days but the management didn’t pay any attention. As a result, Sadaf, who was looking after the coronavirus patients, lost her life after falling prey to the virus.
Meanwhile, a total of 25 coronavirus patients have so far fully recovered at Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Hospital.
With five more deaths reported during the last 24 hours, the death toll caused by the coronavirus pandemic in Pakistan has reached 72 on Saturday, the figures released by the National Command and Control Centre show.
On the other hand, the virus was found in another 190 people, meaning that the total number of cases has now reached 4,788.
Meanwhile, 70 patients are stated to be in a critical condition while 762 of them have so far fully recovered.
