Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday launched the expansion of ‘Meels on Wheels’ project 'Ehsaas Koi Bhooka Na Soye' to three more cities including Lahore, Peshawar and Faisalabad, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In a virtual ceremony, Prime Minister Imran Khan along with chief ministers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab inaugurated the free food service through several truck-kitchens.

“I always wanted that the chief ministers and people in government must realize the responsibility of ownership of taking care of poor strata of the society,” he said while explaining the philosophy behind launching ‘koi bhooka nahi soiye ga’ at a launching ceremony in Islamabad.

Iman Khan also thanked Saylani Welfare Trust and paid accolades for their welfare work. “Firstly, we launched the pilot project to know the hurdles,” Imran Khan said.

The Prime Minister announced plans to scale up the project to other parts of the country later this year in phases.

Each truck will feed 1,500 to 2,000 people daily on designated service points.

It may be recalled that truck kitchens titled 'Ehsaas Koi Bhooka Na Soye' were launched under the umbrella of Ehsaas to serve free meal boxes twice a day to daily wagers initially in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

The Prime Minister’s program was launched a month back in Islamabad.

The event was attended virtually by Chief Ministers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan and Punjab Usman Buzdar who inaugurated the free food service in their respective provinces.

Currently, two custom-built Ehsaas food trucks are providing free cooked meals at different locations in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The meals are cooked, stored and distributed from trucks’ kitchen. Each food truck can feed around 2,000 people daily and the service is provided seven days a week, 365 days a year, twice daily.
