PTI MNAs to submit en masse resignations from assembly

PTI leader Fawad Chaudhary said that PTI MNA will not participate in the voting process of the Leader of the House.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has decided that its members would submit en masse resignations from the National Assembly today (Monday), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The resignations of PTI members of National Assembly have started pouring in ahead of election for Leader of the House. Those who have tendered their resignations so far included: Murad Saeed, Farrukh Habib, Aliya Hamza, Amir Dogar, Ali Amin Gandapur, Shireen Mazari, Shafqat Mehmood, Ali Zaidi, Lal Chand, Kanwal Shozeb. 

Earlier, PTI leader Ali Nawaz disclosed about the resignations' decision after the meeting of the parliamentary party. The meeting was presided over by former prime minister Imran Khan. 

Ali Nawaz said ‘we will not accept the government of ‘thieves’.  

Earlier, during the parliamentary party meeting in which 122 PTI MNAs participated, they gave power to Imran Khan regarding decision about their resignations. They said they were ready to resign whenever Imran asked them to do so. They reposed full confidence in the leadership of Imran Khan. They said they were standing by the party leadership. 

They were of the view that all previous premiers were tainted by corruption charges when they left. But by the grace of Allah, there was no corruption charge against their leader, they held.  

There was seen a split among PTI MNAs, majority of whom was not in favour of tendering resignations. They advised the huddle that they should launch a democratic fight in parliament. 

Sources said that Fawad Chaudhry, Hamad Azhar, Sheikh Rashid, Ali Awan were in favour of tendering resignations while Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Faisal Javed, Fakhar Imam and majority of MNAs did not support the idea en masses resignations

However, in the end, the huddle empowered Imran to take decision regarding resignations

PTI leader Fawad Chaudhary said that PTI will not accept the government of Maqsood Chaprasi and his party will give resignations from the provincial assemblies as well. He said that new elections will be held across the country.  

He quoted Imran Khan: "We should not be part of this assembly."

Former energy minister Hammad Azhar said: “We will do whatever Imran Khan decides. Yesterday was just a trailer, Imran Khan is yet to step in ground.”
