WhatsApp is an online messaging, calling, and data sharing application available both for Android and IOS since as early as 2009, when the smartphones were newly launched. It has come out for the windows operating system as well.

With time, the company behind WhatsApp has made huge improvements and developments in the app according to customer feedback. And now it has become simply the best app for chatting, calling, texting and even video-calling.

Security features of WhatsApp have been updated and made even stronger for the sake of users to have a more comfortable experience.

The key features include leaving a group chat whenever the user feels very discreetly. This means that the user can leave a group silently without having to notify everyone but the admin(s) of the group. Currently, when a user leaves a group, a notification is shown in the group to every participant with the name and the number.

The other very important feature is that the users can choose who sees when he is online. In the upcoming update, the user will be able to choose from amongst his contact list who he wants to see when he is online and when he is not. In short, only the contacts he has chosen will be able to see if he is online or not.

The last and the most secure feature will be the blockage of screenshots for the view once message. Whatsapp recently gave out a feature of setting view once messages, especially images and videos. If a user does not want an image/video to be downloaded in the receiver’s phone gallery, he could simply use the view once message which would not open once it has been opened. A security threat, still existing even after this was that the receiver might take a screenshot and keep it saved. This new feature, an extension to the above stated feature will block the screenshots on view once messages and ensure the security of the sender’s data.

Whatsapp is offering all these features in addition to the pre-existing features of end-to-end protection of messages and calls, disappearing messages that vanish after being read, cloud backup and more.

These new features will soon be out for every WhatsApp user.
