Former National Assembly (NA) deputy speaker and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Qasim Suri, who was due to appear before the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) team in Quetta today for questioning in connection with the party’s prohibited funding case, has shown his inability to appear today, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
Giving reasons, he said that he had received the FIA notice at his Quetta residence only yesterday (August 10, 2022), but due to non-availability of flight for the city from Islamabad he could not go there.
Suri, who was summoned by the Agency for interrogation in connection with Rs5.5 million worth transaction made in one of his bank accounts, said that he had always respected law of the land.
Former NA deputy speaker and other PTI leaders were issued notices by the FIA to appear for questioning following the government’s directives to it in the light of Election Commission of Pakistan’s verdict in the party’s prohibited funding case.
In a related development, Punjab minister and PTI leader Mian Mehmoodur Rashid appeared before the FIA in Lahore on Thursday.
The FIA had summoned the PTI leader in connection with the prohibited funding case.
