The acting icon of the Indian Sub-continent, commonly known as Tragedy King, Dilip Kumar (Yousef Khan) has turned 98 and is celebrating his birthday today. He dominated the Bollywood film industry for well over four decades giving super hit movies creating millions of fans within and outside India.
Dilip Kumar is ill for a long time and his life-partner Saira Banu is taking a good care of him ensuring that her husband gets the best treatment in the best hospital.
Dilip Kumar’s movies made several records since a large number of his film celebrated Platinum and Golden Jubilees that made him a living legend. Phenomenal characters that he played include Shahzada Saleem in Moghal-e-Azam, Ganga in Ganga Jumna, Ram in Ram Aur Shayam besides several other roles that made him a house hold name. In Yahudi his role was Shehzada Marcus, Madhumati, he was Anand and Deven, in Mushafir he was Raja, in Naya Daur he acted a Shanker, Uran Khatola he was Kashi and in Amar he acted as Advocate Amarnath beside many popular roles.
In his carrer, dilip Kumar acted in 61 films of which two could not be released due to unavoidable circumstances. His love affairs with leading ladies of the Indian film world were hyped in Indian media. They include Madhobala, Kamni Kaushal, Nargis, Meena Kumari and Nimmi.
Dilip Kumar is a highly respected name in Bollywood in particular and across the world in general. He migrated from Peshawar, his ancestral city, to Bombay from where started his career from Film Jawar Bhata. His film Jugno was with Noorjehan which was released in 1947.
