Lahore remained the top polluted city in the world as per the Air Quality Index (AQI) with 234 scores on Saturday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The provincial capital of Punjab — once a city of gardens — has continued to occupy the top slot of the most polluted city among Asian capitals leaving behind New Delhi and Dhaka on the air quality index.
The smog containing polluted particles is causing various skin and eyes-related diseases in the city with experts advising Lahorites to wear facemasks during outdoor trips.
Moreover, officials of the Lahore Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) continued their smog cycling awareness campaign in the sixth week and reached office on a symbolic cycling campaign.
Wasa MD Syed Zahid Aziz said that the campaign has been launched to create awareness among people about ever-increasing smog, so people could also less use vehicles.
He said Wasa employees and officials have been directed to reach the office on public transport or on bicycles on Saturday.
Zahid Aziz said that Wasa also distributed smog awareness messages through bills among its 0.7 million consumers.
