Federal Minister for Climate Change Sherry Rehman on the occasion of International Mountain Day said that Margalla Hills National Park is a valuable asset of the country and it is a beautiful natural habitat of animals, birds, trees, plants, and other wildlife.”
The minister said in a video message from Margalla Hills, “It is considered as a protected area and restoration of the wildlife, the natural environment, and this national park is a shared responsibility of all of us.”
She added, “We have closed Trail 6 of Margalla Hills and turned it into Leopard Sanctuary.”
“Nine leopards have been identified in this zone with the help of camera traps which is positive news and a great achievement for Pakistan,” she continued.
She further said, “The presence of all these creatures is a sign of a healthy and thriving natural habitat. For the protection of the leopards and the safety of the people, only guided tours are allowed in this zone.”
She then went on to say, “We have increased our National Parks by 12%, adding that our effort is to protect such natural habitat.”
