A court in Islamabad on Monday reserved its verdict on the admissibility of the petition filed against the alleged illegal nikah (marriage) of former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Civil Judge Qudrutullah reserved the decision.
Imran’s wife Bushra Bibi and her ex-husband Khawar Maneka appeared in the court.
Earlier, Rizwan Abbasi, counsel for the petitioner, concluded his arguments in the case.
He said two witnesses had appeared in the court today. “Please inform me what the law says on that,” the judge asked.
Abbasi replied that 203 C applied to this case.
The judge remarked that as per law, it was obligatory on the complainant to bring two witnesses with him. “In my opinion, this condition must be met,” he emphasized.
Then addressing the petitioner’s lawyer, he said the court was ready to grant him time if he wanted it to prepare his arguments. “The law on the subject is clear. We cannot change the law. Judgement is only required when there is ambiguity in the law.
Informing the court that he did not want more time, Abbasi said he was ready to give arguments right now. “Actually, I have to go to the Supreme Court (SC),” he informed.
The judge asked him to first hold consultations before giving his arguments.
