The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested a person who allegedly failed in an attempt to enter Italy on fake travel documents, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to FIA officials, Naeem Akhtar, a resident of Hafizabad had initially traveled to Nigeria on a Pakistani passport with a legitimate visa. However, the accused attempted to exploit an Italian visa opportunity by securing it through an agent in Nigeria.
Later, he was arrested by Nigerian airport security officials while traveling to Italy on a fake Italy visa sticker.
During the interrogation, he confessed that he had secured the visa from an agent in Nigeria, paying a substantial sum of Rs2.2 that proved to be a fraudulent document.
The Nigerian immigration deported Naeem Akhtar to Pakistan via Saudi Arabia.
FIA officials claimed that after reaching Saudi Arabia, the accused tore a page of his passport where the fake Italy visa was affixed, in a bid to avoid any legal consequences after reaching Pakistan.
At Karachi airport, it was discovered that the visa pages in Akhtar's passport had been tampered.
The FIA spokesperson confirmed that Naeem Akhtar's arrest is linked to his involvement in a visa tampering scheme. The accused is now in the custody of the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle in Karachi, where further legal proceedings will be initiated.
