An anti-terrorism court in Lahore has granted a two-day transitory remand of famous fashion designer, daughter of an ex-finance minister and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf supporter Khadija Shah on the request of Quetta police which came to arrest her from Lahore moments after the Punjab government withdrew its detention order against her, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

The Quetta Police filed an application in the anti-terrorism court of Lahore for the remand of Ms Shah.

In the petition, it was said that a warrant was obtained from the anti-terrorism court of Quetta for the accused, Khadija Shah. She has to be interrogated, so the court should approve a three-day transit remand.

The ATC Lahore approved Khadija Shah's 2-day transit remand and directed the accused to appear in the concerned court within two days.

Earlier in the day, the Lahore Deputy Commissioner withdrew the house arrest order of Ms Shah.

The detention order was issued by Lahore DC Rafia Haider on Nov 17 for a period of 30 days under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) ordinance, citing the need to maintain “law and order in the provincial capital.

The DC issued the order after an anti-terrorism court (ATC) granted post-arrest bail to Shah on Nov 16 in the fourth and, thus far, final case linked to the May 9 riots filed against her. The decision to detain Ms Shah was taken on Nov 15.

Ms Shah, who is also the granddaughter of a former army chief, is facing a terrorism case related to her involvement in the May 9 riots.

The Punjab government law officer was supposed to present the PTI supporter’s detention withdrawal notification before the court later today.

Shah who is currently jailed in Kot Lakhpat Jail was arrested in cases of attacks on the Lahore corps commander house, Askari Tower and torching police vehicles near Rahat bakery in the cantonment. So far, all the cases registered against her were being heard in Lahore.
