Social media chaos has been declared a bigger challenge than robbery, street crime and burglary, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday. 

According to police authorities, this year, Punjab Police faced a social media campaign for sharing anti-state content and violent incidents. 

Safe City reported more than 14,000 pages to Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) which blocked 12,000 pages based on inciting content. 

An average of ten pages sharing controversial content were reported in a day and anti-state posts were shared the most on social media. 

Content, containing religious hatred and political chaos was shared throughout the year.

Police authorities said organized groups are working to spread anarchy on social media and efforts are underway to trace the handlers spreading mischief on social media. 

Police authorities further said 125 cases were registered in Lahore under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) this year. 

Forensic lab, PTA assistance has sought for analysis and identification of deepfake videos.

Police authorities warned users should avoid sharing social media content without research.
