PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Monday seconded the opposition leader’s demand for the formation of a judicial commission to dig into the Murree incident.

He took a swipe at the government for leaving the common people in the lurch. The government utilised all-out resources to save a relative of the premier who got stuck in Chitral in 2019, but it did not bother to respond to a call for help by common persons from Murree, he added.

Bilawal said a minister a couple of days before the tragedy claimed that a good number of tourists were flocking to Murree but opted for victim-blaming after the tragedy

"When the Murree incident happened just two hours away from the prime minister's house, the prime minister took to social media to say that the tourists should have checked the weather," he rued.

He reiterated the opposition leader's demand for a judicial inquiry so that action could be taken against those responsible, saying: "We will only be able to make arrangements for preventing such incidents in the future after conducting a proper investigation."
