The Election Commission of Pakistan has adjourned the hearing of a case pertaining to remove Imran Khan from the PTI chairmanship for two weeks, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
A five-member bench of the ECP presided over by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja heard the case on Wednesday.
Barrister Gohar appeared before the commission on behalf of PTI Chief Imran Khan. He requested the bench to put off the case hearing for two weeks as the case is sub judice in the Lahore High Court and it would announce its verdict on the case. The lawyer said that he did not get the ECP order of its last hearing.
ECP member Ikram Ullah Khan asked the lawyer ‘to have faith in the commission and don’t make haste to move to the court’ as it might happen that the ECP decision would be different from what he was expecting.
The ECP bench accepted the PTI request for the adjournment of the case and put it off till Jan 25.
The chief election commissioner remarked that the petitioner did not appear before the commission even today.
Petitioner Afaq Ahmad filed a petition against Imran Khan seeking his removal as the PTI chief.
