Six die as fireworks explosion brings down two Phalia houses

Six people including women and children were killed and seven others injured when a massive explosion in fireworks material destroyed two houses in Tehsil Phalia of Mandi Bahauddin district on Saturday morning, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The explosion also caused a fire at the fireworks manufacturing facility located in Kot Pholay Shah near Pahariyanwali area of Phalia.

Rescue 1122 personnel said the massive blast brought down roofs of two houses – one was where the fireworks were being manufactured and the other was a neighbouring house.

The Rescue staffers shifted the dead bodies and the injured to nearby hospitals where doctors described condition of some of the injured as very serious.

Police teams have also reached the spot and launched an investigation into the incident.

According to police, the explosion took place due to electricity short-circuit when the fireworks were being manufactured in the house.

Five of the dead were identified as 30-year-old Rimsha, 25-year-old Iqra, 32-year-old Imran, 36-year-old Sameera Bibi and one-month-old Pakeeza Fatima.

The injured were named as 17-year-old Asim, 14-year-ol Muhammad Rizwan, 25-year-old Kamran, 35-year-old Razia, six-year-old Muhammad Musa and four-year-old Aisha.
