Punjab is witnessing a cutthroat competition in the ranks of bureaucracy as a result of which no official is able to work at any position with peace of mind amid rampant posting and transfer orders issued on regular basis.

According to 24NewsHD TV channel, there are several groups working actively in the bureaucracy like the one led by Maj (retd) Azam Suleman Khan. The other groupings revolve around Jawad Rafique Malik and Tahir Khursheed. Meanwhile, there are Roohani and DMG (Noon) groups too.

What do these groups do? Well! They spend all of their time on infighting and registering complaints against each other with Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.

This province has witnessed multiple shakeups since the PTI came into power after the 2018 elections. Hence, it is not a surprise that it is the fourth chief secretary and the fifth IGP in Punjab. But still, there is no end to the rumours about the changes in these two top slots.

On the other hand, the transfers and postings of secretaries in departments like the services and general administration, higher education, irrigation, livestock, local government and food have now become a routine matter.

One gauge the confusion prevalent in the leadership by the fact that even the principal secretary to the chief minister has been changed multiple times.

In short, Punjab is engulfed by uncertainty and no bureaucrat knows when he or she would fall prey to internal politics.
