Responding to a speech by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz at an election rally in Hatyan Bala, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader and Special Assistant to Punjab Chief Minister on Information and Culture Firdous Ashiq Awan asked her to tell to the nation what her party did for Kashmir all those years it remained in power, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
In a statement, she said Nawaz Sharif, Maryam’s father, who thrice remained the country’s prime minister did nothing for people of the occupied territory except plundering the national resources. “I wish Maryam would have asked her father as to what he did for the people of Kashmir despite remaining at the helm of affairs for so long,” Firdous said, “Nawaz only rubbed salt into the wounds of Kashmiris by befriending Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Indian entrepreneur Sajjan Jindal.”
She wondered what Kashmiri people could expect from the man who was so close to Modi, the butcher of Muslims of Gujarat. “It is Prime Minister Imran Khan, not Nawaz Sharif, who is the protector of Kashmir and its people. Former prime minister’s only worry is that PM Imran has shown the true face of Modi to the world,” she said, and added, “It was PM Imran who buried the double standards of PML-N supremo on Kashmir and became the ambassador of Kashmiris.”
She said that the people of AJK would make an example of those who only paid lip service to the Kashmir issue on the elections day. “PM Imran lives in Kashmiri people’s hearts and they stand with him firm like a rock,” she commented.
