The government has introduced a unique campaign to increase revenue by naming developmental projects after the citizens who pay high amount of taxes prompting even women filers to deposit huge amount in tax returns, reported 24NewsHDTV channel.
A development project has been named after a woman who paid largest amount of tax in Sialkot. Under the green campaign, a second park was inaugurated with the cost of Rs10.54 million. The park was inaugurated by the highest taxpayer woman of the city, Dr Maryam Nauman.
An impressive ceremony was held in honour of Dr Maryam on Sunday in which Special Adviser to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs Usman Dar also participated. The project plaque bore the name of the woman instead of Usman Dar.
Mr Dar said that this unique campaign had encouraged women to pay taxes. He said he was pleased that a brave daughter of Pakistan, Dr Maryam had opened this project. He informed that citizens of Sialkot paid Rs10 billion in taxes to the national kitty every year. “The citizens of Sialkot are contributing a lot to the development of the country,” he added.
He said that the Sialkotis had made possible the social work, construction of an airport, establishment of a fund for building hospitals and built an airline. He said that work was going on Rs20 billion worth mega project in the city.
