Cotton and other crops spread over hundreds of acres of land were inundated after a 40-foot wide breach occurred in Mehmood Canal in Gailywal, Lodhran, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
According to rescue sources, the crops are feared to be damaged by the canal water.
Officials of the irrigation department, police and Rescue 1122 were there to plug the breach with the help of locals.
“It may take several hours to plug the breach,” said the rescue sources.
