The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for PTI Chairman Imran Khan and ex-PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry in the ECP contempt case, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
PTI chairman, Fawad Chaudhry and Asad Umar, however, did not appear in the ECP in person.
Imran’s lawyer did not show up either, while counsel for Asad, while giving reason for his client’s absence, said that he had an appointment with a doctor. “Since Asad has been appearing before you in the past, therefore, I request you to exempt him from appearance today,” he added.
Fawad and his lawyer Faisal Chaudhry did not appear either.
The lawyer assisting Faisal in the case told the ECP that Fawad was in Lahore while Faisal was in the Islamabad High Court (IHC). “Faisal has told me that he will come to the election commission after he is done with his engagements at the IHC,” the assistant lawyer informed.
Later, the election commission adjourned hearing of the case until July 25.
