Federal Minister of Communications, Privatization, and Investment Board, Abdul Aleem Khan, Thursday chaired a high-level meeting of the National Highway Authority (NHA) to review and direct significant infrastructure projects, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

During the meeting, the Federal Minister directed the review of the Sialkot-Rawalpindi motorway construction to upgrade it from 4 lanes to 6 lanes. He also emphasized making the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway barrier-free and suggested raising public awareness through print and electronic media.

Abdul Aleem Khan instructed that the construction of roads and motorways should cater to the needs of the next 50 years, not just today's requirements. He announced that in the next phase, all motorways would be barrier-free for all vehicles.

In Balochistan, the Federal Minister discussed the phased completion of the N-25 highway, a project worth 150 billion rupees. He urged the NHA to engage with the Gilgit-Baltistan government to resolve various issues and to take the Balochistan government into confidence regarding the High Court's orders.

Abdul Aleem Khan also instructed the installation of live cameras on highways and construction projects for better monitoring. He directed that all projects be included on the Kodish Board for reporting to the Prime Minister and called for third-party evaluations of highway repair projects.

Highlighting the importance of future needs, the Minister stated that highways and motorways are national assets. He emphasized prioritizing the construction of economically beneficial roads.

The meeting also deliberated on other highways connected to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), with special instructions from the Federal Minister.

The meeting saw briefings from the Federal Secretary Communications, Chairman NHA, and senior officers on various projects.
