Angry protesters in Peshawar attacked the Peshawar Electric Supply Company's (PESCO) grid station in Sarai Naurang and cut the power supply, 24NewsHD TV Channel reported on Thursday.
According to the spokesperson for PESCO, angry protesters stormed the Sarai Naurang grid station. They were armed with sticks and stones.
The PESCO spokesperson said the demonstrators aggressively entered the grid station and damaged government property by throwing equipment outside.
The spokesperson stated that the protesters vandalised the grid station, threw stones, and caused damage worth millions by throwing metres outside.
The spokesperson said the protesters completely cut off the power supply from the Sarai Naurang grid station, affecting electricity distribution throughout the city.
Following this, the protesters also attacked the PESCO field store and the relevant sub-division office.
The spokesperson said the protesters, belonging to the Mama Khel feeder, attacked the PESCO grid station in protest against load shedding.
The spokesperson said the Mama Khel feeder suffers from line losses exceeding 68%, resulting in routine load management on this feeder.
The channel reported that the angry protesters also blocked the highway in Sarai Naurang against the heavy load shedding.
