The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has launched an investigation into complaints of overbilling by Distribution Companies (DISCOs), reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
This announcement was made by NEPRA Chairman Waseem Mukhtar.
"We have obtained 60% of the data for the investigation, NEPRA Chairman confirmed, adding that the analysis of this data is currently underway.
NEPRA Member Rafiq Shaikh highlighted that this is not the first time NEPRA has conducted such an investigation.
"NEPRA had previously investigated overbilling issues," Shaikh said, adding that the amounts overbilled in past instances were refunded to the affected consumers.
He said that this ongoing investigation by NEPRA aimed to address consumer complaints regarding overbilling and ensure that any discrepancies are rectified promptly.
