The hybrid model proposed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to conduct the initial four matches of the Asia Cup 2023 in Pakistan and the rest of the matches in Sri Lanka has been accepted, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
The initial four matches of the Asia Cup will be played in Lahore while the rest of the matches will be played in Sri Lanka’s Dambulla and Pallekele.
All the countries have reportedly agreed to the holding of the Asia Cup in September, and a final announcement in this regard will soon be made.
Earlier, the Indian cricket board had refused to send the Indian cricket team to Pakistan for the Asia Cup matches.
It had also refused to send the Indian cricket team to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the Asia Cup matches.
However, a meeting of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) officials with the Indian cricket board authorities changed the situation after which Sri Lanka also entered the race to host the Asia Cup matches on short notice.
Earlier, the Indian cricket board had rejected the hybrid model of the PCB to conduct the initial four Asia Cup matches in Pakistan and the rest of the matches in the UAE.
