Mirza says coronavirus situation under control, no need to panic

Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Zafar Iqbal Mirza said on Tuesday there was no need to panic from newly-reported coronavirus cases in Pakistan because the situation was completely under control.

Mirza said in a twitter message that the government was watching the changing situation closely and that the newly-reported cases were being provided the best medical care. He said the federal government was working in collaboration with the provincial governments on an emergency basis to protect people against coronavirus.

Also, Mirza said there was no evidence of spread of local coronavirus and all reported patients brought the virus from other countries. He said that condition of all reported patients was stable.

The adviser on health also gave people some tips on protection against the virus and urged people to play their role in the fight against the disease.

The number of confirmed coronavirus patients in Pakistan rose to 19 on Tuesday, March 10. The number of patients almost doubled in 24 hours, as reported by government officials on Tuesday evening. The first coronavirus patient, who was reported in Karachi almost two weeks ago, has fully recovered after treatment and he was discharged from the health facility last week.
