The Election Commission of Pakistan on Friday stopped Prime Minister Imran Khan from participating in a rally in Lowe Dir while issuing a new election code devised after consulting with political parties, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The ECP has released a new Code of Conduct under which the members of parliament could take part in election campaign but the public office holders cannot participate in electioneering.

The new election code still retains an embargo on the public office holder who can’t take part in the poll campaign.

It is pertinent to mention here that Prime Minister Khan is going to address a public rally in Lowe Dir in connection with the second phase of local government elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
