Punjab Governor Baligh-ur-Rehman Saturday issued orders that students of universities in Lahore will acquire their degrees only after rendering social service, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Students will no longer get their degrees without rendering social works in hospitals and welfare institutes within the duration of their degrees.
The pupils will have to render social services in order to complete their degrees as it will be made part of their degree course.
Marks for the services will also be awarded on regular basis.
Compulsion of rendering social services within the degree period is expected to be implemented from the next academic year.
Work for making social service a part of the degree has started on the orders of the Punjab governor.
