The Interior Ministry Tuesday received a letter from National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Javed Iqbal to put the name of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif on the ECL.

Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid will convene a meeting tomorrow to mull over placing Shehbaz Sharif on the Exit Control List (ECL), reported 24NewsHD.

Law minister and official concerned will attend the meeting. The interior minister will hold a press conference.

The NAB Lahore sent a letter to its headquarters in Islamabad for placing Shehbaz on the ECL as the accountability bureau has been grilling former Punjab CM on charges of assets beyond means case.

The sources said a request has been sent to the NAB headquarters to challenge the Lahore High Court ruling in the Supreme Court for not putting the accused’s name on the ECL.

On Saturday, FIA got Shehbaz Sharif off a Doha-bound plane at Lahore International Airport. On Friday, the Lahore High Court allowed the PML-N president to travel abroad for medical treatment and also ordered the removal of his name from the blacklist.

Shehbaz was set to leave for Doha from Lahore Airport when FIA officials took him out of the flight as, according to them, his name was not removed from the blacklist. Also, the government decided to challenge the LHC verdict that allowed the opposition leader to travel abroad.
