Punjab govt mulling to raise road taxes

The Punjab government is all prepared to impose an additional burden on citizens in terms of road taxes, reported 24NewsHD TV channel quoting its sources on Tuesday.

Punjab Highway and Irrigation Departments have sent proposals to the Tax Reforms Wing in this regard.

It has been proposed to increase Rs10 road tax on cars, Rs20 on minibus wagons, pickups cars and commercial vans and Rs100-Rs200 on trucks, trailers and heavy vehicles.

The Resource Mobilization Committee will seek final approval from the Cabinet on raising the road tax, the TV channel reported.
