Vice-chancellors’ eligibility criteria changed in Punjab

Punjab Higher Education Department and provincial Search Committee for universities Vice-Chancellors have amended the eligibility criteria for the VCs, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

The eligibility criteria for the VCs have been changed after 10 years.

As per the new criteria, an applicant of VC should be a PhD degree holder and also a full-time professor of university.

The number of academic qualifications has been reduced from 35 to 25 while ‘experience’ numbers have been increased from 35 to 50.

In a revised policy, it has now been decided that out of hundreds of candidates applying for the post of Vice Chancellor, only 15 candidates will be shortlisted for interviews.

The decision was taken in a special meeting of the VC Search Committee. The meeting was attended by Member Committee Chairperson Punjab Higher Education Commission Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid

The meeting was attended by Dr. Arif Butt, Dr Saleema Hashmi and Punjab Higher Education Secretary Nadeem Mehboob.

Chairman of the Search Committee Dr. Khalid Aftab chaired the meeting that approved changes in the eligibility criteria of Vice chancellor search hunt.
