Former Pakistan cricket captain Inzamamul Haq in an explosive revelation on Thursday claimed that late Pakistan team coach Robert Andrew Woolmer aka Bob Woolmer had said Shahada four days before his death, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Inzamam said that Bob Woolmer inquired and collected information about the religion of Islam from him and later recited Kalma in front of cricketer Mushtaq Ahmed.
Speaking in Lahore, Inzamam said religious clerics would better comment on the status of the religion of Bob Woolmer whether he had embraced Islam.
He said that after the death of the national team coach, it was said that before Bob Woolmer’s death, two short and tall people had gone to the room.
The former captain added that as captain, Bob Woolmer and I used to meet, but I never happened to go to Woolmer’s room by chance.
He said that after the death of Bob Woolmer, the entire national team was transferred to a separate island.
On this issue, Mushtaq Ahmed said that we were told that everyone will leave but Inzamam-ul-Haq will not go.
Woolmer, (14 May 1948 – 18 March 2007), played in 19 Test matches and six One Day Internationals for the England cricket team and later coached South Africa, Warwickshire and Pakistan.
On 18 March 2007, Woolmer died suddenly in Jamaica, just a few hours after the Pakistan team's unexpected elimination at the hands of Ireland in the 2007 Cricket World Cup.
