The Punjab government has removed the names of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s (TLP) Ameer Hafiz Saad Hussain Rizvi and 577 other workers from the Fourth Schedule, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Punjab Home Department on Thursday issued a notification in this regard, according to which the blocked national ID cards of TLP workers have also been restored.
The TLP activists were also exempted from appearance at the polling stations.
Earlier in the day, Interior Minister while speaking in Rawalpindi said he had no knowledge of the agreement which the TLP struck with the government. “We will come to know about that at an appropriate time,” he added.
He further said “I am a supporter of talks and not violence. I was a part of the first agreement with the TLP but not a part of the latest pact.”
TLP workers get bail
A court in Lahore has granted bail to two TLP workers.
The special anti-terrorism court on Thursday approved the bail applications of the two. Judge Ijaz Ahmad Battar while ordering the release directed both the TLP workers to submit Rs100,000 surety bonds each.
A case was registered against the accused – Zafran Haider and Muhazzab Ali – at the Shahdara Town Police Station.
