Trika Plus emphasizes to maintain liaison with Taliban, declaration issued

Trika Plus issued a declaration after the meeting in Islamabad and emphasized maintaining liaison with the Taliban government in Afghanistan.

According to 24News HD TV channel, the declaration said that the Trika Plus members have been agreed to continue practical contacts with the Taliban to encourage the implementation of moderate policies, which can help achieve a stable and prosperous Afghanistan as soon as possible.

A statement issued by the Pakistan Foreign Office urged the Taliban to work with fellow Afghans to form a comprehensive and representative government that respects the rights of all Afghans and provide equal rights to women.

The meeting discussed UN Security Council resolutions, including respect for Afghanistan's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity. The desire was expressed for an Afghanistan that was free from terrorism and drug-related crimes and that contributed to regional stability and connectivity.

The special envoys of the United States, China, Pakistan and Russia to Afghanistan, who attended the meeting, reiterated their commitment to stopping the Taliban from using Afghan territory against their neighbours, other countries in the region and the rest of the world.

The joint statement called on the Taliban to be friendly with its neighbours in fulfilling Afghanistan's international legal obligations. In addition, emphasis has been placed on the protection of foreign citizens and institutions in Afghanistan and respect for their legitimate rights.

The meeting strongly condemned the recent terrorist attacks in Afghanistan and asked the Taliban to cut ties with all international terrorist groups, eliminate them decisively and stop any terrorist organization operating inside the country.
