Punjab police on Friday arrested former Member Provincial Assembly (MPA), Chaudhry Ashfaq Ahmed, for blocking a road in Layyah.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, police said the former MPA along with companions harassed the passengers by blocking the public road for his illegal demands.
The police said former MPA Chaudhry Ashfaq Ahmed incited people by shouting provocative slogans against the administration and disturbing the public order.
Layyah police said a case has also been registered against 15 nominees and 40 unknown accused including Chaudhry Ashfaq Ahmed in the city police station.
District Police Officer (DPO) Layyah said illegal demands of miscreants will never be accepted under any circumstances.
The DPO Leyyah said blocking roads, harassing passengers, and making provocative speeches are crimes under the law.
The DPO further stated that the rights of people will be protected by taking strict legal action against the troublemakers.
