Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, president of Pakistan, other politicians and cricket fraternity has congratulated Green Shirts for its victory over Australia, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Pakistan beat Australia in an eight-wicket victory, bringing up their first ODI series win in Australia after 22 years. Politicians across the spectrum congratulated the team on its win. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif felicitated the team on its victory in a post on X. “After 22 years, Pakistan has defeated Australia on their home ground, and that too, in a convincing manner!” he wrote. Senator Sherry Rehman congratulated the team in a post on X, adding, “This victory is the result of teamwork, hard work, and playing with unity.”
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has also congratulated Green Shirts for historic victory. She said national team performed well and win series against Australian team at their home ground. Acting President Syed Yusuf Raza Gillani also congratulated the team on a “superb series win against Australia in Australia”.
Aside from politicians, former cricketers also commended the Green Shirts on their performance. Ex-cricketer Shahid Afridi congratulated the team with a post on X. Pakistan Test Captain Shan Masood termed the win a “proper display of character, coming back from a game down to win the series.” English cricketer Kevin Pietersen said, “Put the politics aside and let the cricket do the talking!”
Former cricketer Wasim Akram termed the victory against the World ODI Champions in a series as a big achievement.
