Federal Minister and PML-N leader Mian Javed Latif could not get relief from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) as the court on Tuesday threw out his petition against registration of a terrorism case against him, saying it was inadmissible for the hearing, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Latif’s lawyer, who prayed to the court to dispose of the case, argued that his client had addressed the press conference in Islamabad, but the case of terrorism was registered against him in Lahore and Peshawar.
IHC Chief Justice (CJ) Justice Athar Minallah asked him that since an FIR against his client had been registered in Lahore; therefore he better approached the Lahore High Court (LHC). “How can the IHC issue a notice to a police station in Lahore?” the CJ wondered.
A case was registered against Federal Minister Mian Javed Latif on September 19, 2022 on charges of using religion to instill hatred against Imran Khan.
As per details, the case was registered under terrorism provision because the federal minister had made a deliberate attempt to incite people against Imran at a press conference.
Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb and Managing Director PTV had also been booked in the case.
