The Punjab government has imposed Section 144 in eight districts of Punjab for three days due to security concerns.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the government took the step at the request of the district administration, said a notification issued on Thursday.
All kinds of political gatherings, sit-ins, meetings, demonstrations, protests and such activities from today, the notification said.
It added that these activities might be the soft target of terrorists. Section 144 has been imposed in Multan, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Vehari, Pakpattan, Okara and Wazirabad.
The ban has been enforced to protect the life and property of the people and maintain law and order.
