In a major development when comes to the politics of Lahore, the PML-Q managed to shock the senior member of the ruling alliance as former Punjab Assembly member Naveed Ashiq Diyal joined the party after parting ways with the PTI, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

Diyal, who was accompanied by Shehzad Cheema and Arif Gul, made this announcement at a meeting with PML-Q leader and Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, Chaudhry Moonis Elahi and Senator Kamil Ali Agha.

He blasted the Imran Khan-led ruling party, saying he had joined the PTI after being impressed by the tall claims but nothing had been done for the people despite the passage of two years.

It is worth noting that his father late Ashiq Diyal also remained associated with the PML-Q.

Speaking on the occasion, Pervaiz said the basic objective of their politics was serving the people and had always contributed in the people-oriented projects whether it was at the Centre or in the province.

Diyal said the project launched during Pervaiz’s tenure as the Punjab chief minister had no comparison in Pakistan’s history. Many political and social personalities wanted to join the PML-Q after being impressed by the party leadership’s love for the people, he added.
