Top footballer shot dead during friendly match in Jamrud

Two people including a young footballer were shot dead as rivals clashed during a friendly match in Jamrud area of Khyber district, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

The clash was triggered during the match in Jamrud’s Teddi Bazaar which resulted in the death of the area’s top footballer Junaid and another person. Junaid’s brother was also injured in the incident.

According to the area SHO Muslim Khan, the match was underway between the youth of two Teddi Bazaar tribes namely Sher Khan Khail and Maniya Khail, when a minor dispute led to the opening of firing on each other.

The firing resulted in the death of top footballer Junaid son of Mukhtiyar Sher Khan and injuries to his brother Shoaib and another boy Kaleem, who were rushed to a local hospital for treatment. However, Kaleem succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

The police rushed to the spot after the incident and brought the situation under control and started an investigation.
