A gas leak triggered a powerful explosion near the house of Additional Chief Secretary Development and Planning Hafiz Abdul Basit on Anscombe Road in Quetta on Sunday evening. According to the 24News HD TV channel, the blast injured a pedestrian and damaged the wall of the secretary's residence, as well as the road and footpath.
The police sources said a Sui Gas team was investigating a complaint of gas leakage and fire on the road when the incident occurred.
The sources said the Sui Gas team removed the cover with fire extinguishers which ignited and caused the explosion.
Police and security forces cordoned off the area and shifted the injured person to a nearby hospital.
An investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the incident.
