The government has launched a crackdown against hoarders, smugglers, and hawala brokers and also announced a cash award for the informers in this regard, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Sunday, caretaker interior Minister Sarfraz Bughti and information minister Murtaza Solangi jointly emphasized that smuggling and hoarding are serious crimes that undermine the nation's economic stability and security. They reaffirmed the government's commitment to taking strict action against those involved in such activities.
The caretaker interior minister said that smuggling, hoarding, and referrals are also acts of terrorism against the state and nation.
He highlighted the success of the recent anti-trafficking campaign and said that the campaign had achieved its objectives.
In a bid to encourage citizen participation in combating smuggling, Bugti announced that individuals who provide information leading to the apprehension of smugglers would be eligible for cash rewards.
