Chand Tara’s writer Saima Akram Chaudhry needs no introduction. She is the pioneer of Ramazan serials, and some of her major hits include Suno Chanda, Ishq Jalebi, Hum Tum, Chaudhry and Sons and now Chand Tara.

Her writings mostly revolve around joint family challenges that affect the entire family and are typically presented as lighthearted comedies. One of the striking features of her dramas is that there is always a head of the family who is the backbone of the joint family.

The talented writer was a guest at Fuchsia with Rabia Mughni where she revealed why Chand Tara does not have the role of her mother-in-law, who is typically regarded as the family’s matriarch.

She said, “Hum TV Productions had no money for bigger cast. I had written the character of a mother-in-law as well as an older sister who keeps coming to the house with her two kids and husband Mustaqeem. These characters were there for the first six episodes, but once Hum TV calculated their estimates, they cut off the older sister character and turned her both kids into Mati’s (Danish Nawaz) children. The production house also cut out the character of mother-in-law.”
