CM Naqvi directs to stop sugar price increases and smuggling

Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi directed the officials to take immediate steps to stop sugar price increases and smuggling.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, CM Naqvi headed a meeting regarding the prevention of sugar smuggling held in Lahore on Wednesday.
CM Naqvi was officially briefed that there is no possibility of a shortage of sugar in Punjab as the province has plenty of sugar.
Mohsen Naqvi said a sustainable strategy should be formulated to stop the artificial increase in the price of sugar in the province.
In the meeting, it is decided to monitor the transportation of sugar on the external routes of the Punjab province.
A proposal for the implementation of an inventory management system in sugar mills and establishing a system of registration and inspection of brokers, dealers and warehouses in the province of Punjab were also reviewed in the meeting.
Punjab Minister for Industries SM Tanveer, Chief Secretary, Inspector General of Police, Secretary of Industries, Secretary of Excise and Taxation, Secretary of Food, Cane Commissioner, DG Industries and other officials attended the meeting.
