Peshawar Zalmi’s Babar Azam expressed disappointment over the failure to implement plans, noting that the powerplay during both innings was crucial.
In a post-match media talk in Rawalpindi on Saturday, Babar admitted that his team failed to follow through on their strategies.
“I think we failed to execute our plans. The first six overs in both innings proved to be crucial, and we lost momentum during those phases,” he said.
The star batter also commented on the changing nature of the pitch, particularly in the second innings.
“The pitch behaved a bit differently in the second innings and kept a bit low at times.
It’s not an excuse, but the lack of partnerships and the regular fall of wickets really hurt us,” he added, acknowledging his side’s batting collapse.
Despite the setback, Babar took a moment to praise young opener Saim Ayub, who impressed with his confident stroke play.
“Saim’s knock was outstanding — he’s definitely going to be a key player for Peshawar Zalmi this season,” he stated.
Babar also highlighted the impact of Inzamam-ul-Haq, the legendary former Pakistan captain who is serving as a mentor to the squad.
“Having someone like Inzamam as a mentor is invaluable. He shares his wealth of experience, and the youngsters are eager to learn from him,” he remarked.
