MQM Chairman and federal minister Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has declared that all political parties share the responsibility of country’s development and further troubles cannot be afforded, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
This he said after holding detailed talks with Awami National Party (ANP) Sindh President Shahi Sayed at MQM headquarters in Bahadurabad in Karachi on Saturday.
Shahi Sayed, on his party, stated that they would not allow Karachi’s situation to deteriorate under any circumstances.
During the joint presser, Sayed emphasized that Karachi’s problems are administrative rather than linguistic, despite attempts to frame them otherwise. He identified education and unemployment as “the city’s foremost challenges,” pointing out that while there is a water shortage, the supply from tankers mitigates immediate dangers.
The ANP leader criticized the quota system, which he said leaves qualified young people, including doctors and engineers unemployed, and described these injustices as mentally paralysing for the citizens.
Shahi Sayed stressed that the essence of politics should be to address public issues and urged that Karachi be regarded as an integral part of Pakistan. He insisted that local institutions must operate on merit, not corruption, and highlighted the abundant resources available in Karachi that should provide employment opportunities.
Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui noted the significance of Sayed’s visit in light of the current national situation and Karachi’s struggles. He emphasized that all parties share the responsibility of country’s development and that further troubles cannot be afforded.
The MQM leader described the meeting as “pivotal for fostering linguistic harmony,” affirming MQM’s commitment to preventing any deterioration in the city’s conditions. He praised Sayed as a symbol of unity and reiterated that MQM views all language speakers as part of a single nation.
After the meeting, both parties pledged to continue their collaborative efforts to transform Karachi into a peaceful, dignified, and developed city.
