SHC constitutional bench decides 4,000 tax cases in four months

The Constitutional Bench of the Sindh High Court (SHC) has decided over 4,000 tax cases in four months, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

The federal government obtained a profit of Rs34 billion through the decision in only one case.

Most of these cases were related to Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Pakistan Customs Department, Board of Revenue were decided after obtaining ‘stay orders’.

Majority of the cases were pending from last 10 years due to ‘stay order’ which were obtained by different companies.

Sources revealed that currently there are only 9,000 cases are pending at the Sindh High Court.

Head of Constitutional Bench Justice Agha Faisal directed relevant lawyers to conclude hearing of these cases on priority basis.

Justice Agha Faisal said that few tax-related cases which are still pending will be settled soon after scrutiny of all available record and hearing arguments of lawyers.
