The double standards of the Pakistan Tehreek-Insaf have come to the fore once again as on one hand party chief Imran Khan keeps saying that America was behind the removal of his government while on the other, he hires a US lobby firm for seeking good relations with the United States, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
It has been learnt that the PTI hired the services of a US firm Fenton/Arlock LLC for a handsome amount of $25,000 per month to support the party's 'goals' for good relations with the United States and the Pakistani diaspora in the US.
The PTI US Chapter has hired the US firm’s services for six months starting from Aug 1, 2022 and ending on Jan 31, 2023.
The US firm is not only required to establish amicable relations with the US media, it would also help publishing articles, broadcasts, holding PTI supporters interviews and advising on social media efforts and other PR services.
The documents have been unearthed by Uzair Younus, Director of the Pakistan Initiative at the South Asia Center. He said that Fenton/Arlock was also hired by the Pakistani embassy in the US in March this year for $30,000 a month, this when Imran Khan's government was in power.
On April 10, Imran Khan was removed as the prime minister of Pakistan after a dramatic no-confidence vote. The cricketer-turned-politician blamed foreign conspiracy for his ouster, even naming a US diplomat named Donald Lu .According to Khan, Lu had allegedly threatened the Pakistani ambassador in US that there would be implications if the former captain survived the trust vote.
